Of course, you forget to mention the best use of time… Stumble Upon!

I agree on the browsing, firefox (though the new Opera is possibly better. I can’t decide)
I think Flock is a bit pointless and a step in the wrong direction in terms of web applications doing the work inside a simple viewer.

On a side note, I thing Google Earth is fantastic… I just don’t like the client so I browse the service through flashearth.com

In terms of IM Trillian is ok, Pidgin is great but I don’t think Miranda should be over looked. Moreover I think meebo offers a web solution so no application required.

I’ve never been a fan of all in one media player as in something that tries to do everything: music, video, etc and there are some that masquerade as web browsers (songbird). I agree that iTunes is bloated and RealPlayer is appalling.

I think for listening to music playlists a la winamp2 then the daddy has got to be FooBar. If you require a music library akin to the one iTunes provide then MusikCube is a great (but rough round the edges) player. aTunes seems ok, even though it is a complete rip off of amaroK and it’s written in Java so is predictably for want of a better work klunky

For video I agree VLC is good, however I am not a fan of the interface and sometimes it struggle to render things well causing pixelation. My personal fave for video playback is SMPlayer.

I’m getting bord so in short:

I agree about Photoshop, gimp is ok for a free program so don’t be too harsh. For simple stuff then web apps will probably suffice: splashup, Picnik, 72photos.

I disagree about Dreamweaver (I could go on a 500 line rant here but I will refrain as nobody gives a rats)

I agree about office(word, excel) but the alternatives are a better option for the average user considering they are free: Open Office Google docs etc.

I’ve never used copernic, is it better than google desktop search?

I don’t think much of Picasa.

Outlook is sufficient at best. Opera m2 is superior as is theBat, Scribe, Zimbra, Thunderbird (and Seamonkey) and Eudora.

WinRar is functional but often annoying 7Zip should be considered.

As far as text editors go if you just need a decent free one then you can’t go far wrong with Notepad++ or PSPad.
For heavy users I’d go for EditPlus or UltraEdit.

Safari works fine in Linux, all you need to do is install it on wine and your good to go (Providing you even want safari :P )
Anyhow I wrote a guide to installing it on Linux using wine, you can find it here> http://abadtooths.com/ubuntu-quick-tips/how-to-install-apples-safari-browser-on-ubuntu-using-wine/

As a recommendation, I suggest using Cyberduck instead of Filezilla on a Mac. The interface is a bit more user-friendly, I feel. Personal choice, I guess.
