Brilliant Concept for a Cheap Portable Whiteboard
I have been looking for a nice whiteboard for my home office for a while now. You know, a nice big one like I have in my office at work. Well, unlike the megacorp that I work for, I have a very meager budget. So, needless to say, I have been putting it off.
I came across this article on TechCrunch about a product called WhiteyBoard.com and was very excited. They make a giant sticker that is the skin of a whiteboard. You can peel and stick it anywhere, then reuse it. The best part is, it’s DIRT CHEAP! (Kinda like me.)
Here is how they describe their product:
WhiteyBoard was born in 2010 to attack one major problem; Heavy, Expensive Dry Erase Boards. With our team of chemists, we can up with an ultra inexpensive white board that sticks on to any wall, weighs less than 2 pounds and gets you working in seconds. No installation, no heavy lifting, no breaking the bank. WhiteyBoard is already being used in hundreds of offices, classrooms, and kids rooms around the US. Try one out today.
There are three sizes of WhiteyBoard available: Sonia, Alice, and Bertha. I got the big one, which I will probably cut into a few small pieces.

It works pretty easily. Just peel the backing off like a sticker and apply it to any flat surface. When you’re done, just gently peel it off the surface and back onto the sticker backing. Then, roll it up and stow it away.
I really like it so far and would recommend picking one up if you are in a similar situation to me.
I could see sticking it to a piece of foam core and having a super-light, portable board that you can slide behind a piece of furniture to get it out of your way. Another idea would be to stick it to something metal, like the side of a refridgerator or file cabinet and you’ll have a magnetic whiteboard / bulletin board.
What Would You Do With a WhiteyBoard?

Jason,
Glad you stopped by. Thanks for making a great product.

I like the product, especially the pricing…”real” whiteboards can be pricey. Just wish they’d tried harder to come up with a better name.
Tom,
Yeah, I completely agree. Cool product funny name.
Thanks for commenting.

Just want to say what a great blog you got here!
I’ve been around for quite a lot of time, but finally decided to show my appreciation of your work!
Thumbs up, and keep it going!

I had a question: How is erasing on the whiteyboard? Do the marks come off easily? Do they leave any color behind?
Thanks
This stuff is terrible. I got the paint version and it just ran down the wall. It was crap! 3 coats my ass, I did 5 coats and it still didn’t work. usless, I went with IdeaPaint instead.
